EMPOWERING WOMEN

Recognizing the pivotal role of women in emergency decision-making and policy development, GCERP places a strong emphasis on empowering women with life-saving skills. Currently, 70% of our program beneficiaries are women, reflecting our commitment to promoting gender equality and strengthening the role of women in emergency management.

PROGRAMS STRUCTURE AND SUPPORT

GCERP supports 'The Giving Genie Tuition Assistance Program' by providing equal access to training opportunities. The program is designed to offer essential emergency response skills to school students and young adults, transforming the landscape of disaster preparedness in Mozambique.

PARTNERSHIP WITH GRUPO T4S

We proudly partner with Grupo T4S through Centro de Formação Profissional T4S Parques, Lda. (CFP T4S P) to conduct on-site "GCERP Resposta a Emergência" certification training. T4S is accredited by ANEP and the Emergency Medical Services of Mozambique (SEMMO), ensuring high-quality training that meets national and international standards. T4S is also affiliated with the NFPA® - National Fire Protection Association, providing access to the latest global resources and standards in safety and emergency response.

BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT

Disasters, whether natural or man-made, can overwhelm a community's emergency response capabilities, leading to increased human morbidity, mortality, and economic costs. In Mozambique, access to basic first aid and emergency training is limited, particularly in disaster zones. GCERP aims to address this gap by equipping individuals with essential skills for managing emergencies effectively.

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The GCERP curriculum consists of a rigorous 4-day program that combines theoretical sessions with practical exercises. Participants learn to develop emergency preparedness and communication plans, drawing insights from past disasters and humanitarian efforts. The training covers essential skills such as START triage, hands-only CPR, spinal precautions for moving injured victims, basic first-aid essentials, and fire protection strategies.

ACCREDITATION

Upon successful completion of the training and final exam, participants receive accreditation from ANEP, validating their readiness for emergencies. The certification, valid for two years, integrates First Aid, Disaster Management, and Firefighting into a comprehensive Emergency Response certificate, totaling 16 hours of training.

PROGRAM VISION AND IMPACT

GCERP envisions a future where individuals are well-prepared to handle emergencies, reducing physical injuries and fatalities during crises. Our program covers a broad spectrum of emergency management topics, including disaster management, epidemic response, and integrated emergency systems. Participants engage in realistic training scenarios involving ambulance services and other critical emergency components, providing invaluable hands-on learning experiences.

Since 2024, over 40 students from Instituto Industrial e Comercial Estrela do Mar have completed the inaugural GCERP training and obtained the "Resposta a Emergência" certification, valid for two years.
