EDUCATION
At The Giving Genie, our Education Program is a cornerstone of our mission to uplift marginalized communities in Mozambique. Driven by a deep commitment to empowering young women and youth, we focus on providing ongoing education and accessible resources that foster better livelihoods and sustainable futures.

By providing targeted educational support and resources, The Giving Genie’s Education Program aims to maximize the return on investment for both the individual and the community. Through TAP, we are committed to empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to drive positive change and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
THE TAP: EMPOWERING THROUGH EDUCATION
The TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) Project is a beacon of hope for many, offering essential tuition assistance primarily to women. Through TAP, we emphasize vocational education, entrepreneurship, and business skills, equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to build thriving futures for themselves and their families. Our approach ensures that the skills gained are not only aligned with personal and career goals but are also beneficial to the broader community.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE AND ELIGIBILITY
The TAP is designed to provide support for eligible young women and youth seeking self-improvement through vocational training and standardized qualifying exams offered by accredited institutions. Participation in TAP is a privilege, not a right, and is governed by a grant established and administered by The Giving Genie. The grant amount may vary and will determine the level of participation available.
APPLICATION AND APPROVAL PROCESS
To apply for TAP, candidates must complete and submit the Tuition Assistance Application form, which requires signatures from both the applicant and the training institution. The Giving Genie will authorize tuition assistance reimbursements for two semesters upon receipt of the duly signed forms. Applicants must secure TAP approval from their training institution for consecutive semesters to continue receiving support.
IN-PERSON ENGAGEMENT
Applicants are provided with a detailed academic plan and must ensure that their courses align with this plan. The TAP grant covers tuition for courses specified in the academic plan and requires applicants to maintain a minimum term GPA—2.0 for CV3, 2.5 for CV4, and 3.0 for CV5. Only courses listed on the academic plan are eligible for funding, and applicants must complete all attempted courses each semester.
EVALUATION AND DOCUMENTATION
The effectiveness of the TAP Project is evaluated through several key metrics:
-
Assessment Criteria: Beneficiaries are required to maintain specific GPAs based on their vocational level and must complete all courses attempted each semester.
-
Knowledge Retention: We test knowledge retention over time to ensure the skills learned are being effectively applied.
-
Behavioral and Attitudinal Assessment: We assess individual selections of vocation and the achievement of identified goals, with 70% of beneficiaries being women and 30% men.
